The Mother Church of Country Music - Ryman Auditorium

Nashville, TN

January 10th - Arrived at Two Rivers Campground in Nashville, TN, next to Camping World and across the street from Opryland. RAIN RAIN RAIN. Played Mexican Train Dominos. Larry & Dan tied with 3 wins each.

January 11th - Went to the Friday Night Opry at the old Ryman Auditorium. During January & February the Opry is held at the Ryman instead of Opryland. Dan & Larry parents drove to Nashville in 1950 in a 1937 green Pontiac to take them and Mrs. Mantle (a neighbor of Dan's parents) to the Opry at the Ryman, so our visit brought back some memories. The Ryman was originally a church (built in 1891 as Union Gospel Assembly) and still has old wooden pews for seats. They are NOT padded. When Opryland was built, a circle of the original Ryman stage was cut out and placed in the new stage.
